"WATCH THE INFLUENCE!" LEFT OUT!
MS 61, 1899 lost some words on it's way to the Review and Herald. It's not the worst we've seen. But the only way it should be read is as a text comparison.
Oh, not much. Just..
“This is the TIME to WATCH the INFLUENCE their WORDS HAVE upon the CONGREGATION!” LEFT OUT! page 2. [That sounds like good advice! Why was it in the vault for over a century?]
THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION! - BURIED BENEATH A “MASS OF RUBBISH!” LEFT OUT, page 12.
The “CERTAIN TESTIMONY that the CROSS of CHRIST *WILL BE* [FUTURE!] the CONDEMNATION of every TRANSGRESSOR of the LAW of GOD!” LEFT OUT! page 11.
“Here are the TWO GREAT POWERS!” LEFT OUT! Do you know what POWERS ARE? “the two great powers, the power of truth and righteousness and the working of Satan to make of none effect the law of God.” page 11.
The JEWS BLASPHEMED GOD! LEFT OUT! Page 8.
They did leave IN that the Jews committed the Unpardonable Sin, which you also should know.
COMPARE & Contrast, the published:
“Every truth is invested by the God of heaven with an influence proportionate to its character and importance. The plan of redemption, which means everything to a lost and ruined world, was to be proclaimed, and the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus was brought into vital contact with the heart of the world. Light and truth vibrated through the universe. The plan of redemption was made known, which thrills the soul and prepares it for the great power of God. A truth so large, so deep, so full and complete, it could be the center of all truth hitherto revealed.” Review & Herald, April 30th, 1901.
With the Manuscript:
“Every moral and spiritual truth is invested by the God of heaven with a power of influence proportionate to its character and importance. The work of Christ was tested and brought forth prominently. The plan of redemption, which means everything to a lost and ruined world, was to be proclaimed, and the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus was brought into vital contact with the heart of the world, in order to draw the world to its divine Author, the Truth, the Word, and the Life. Christ declared, “I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me.” MS 66, 1899.
Did it LOSE anything? Do you want an “influence”— or a POWER of influence PROPORTIONATE to every MORAL and SPIRITUAL TRUTH?
